Thanks Teena in Toronto of Its All About Me.

Who knows what would happen to this place if nobody came by to check in on me from time to time. Its true. A Place of Comfort has official been on the scene for a whole year. Doesn't seem like it (perhaps because I've been slacking), but the calendar doesn't lie. I first hit the Publish Post button and introduced myself with this post on July 19th, 2008. Since then, that button and I have become friends, and so have a number of amazingly beautiful and talented women. I am grateful for the space and opportunity to just be me and to be supported along the way. I am looking forward to branching out more within this special space and I hope that all of you will continue the journey with me.

On to the next 364 days...

I remember when my professor said it. "Just make a decision and stick with it", she'd say. Well... I did this summer. In order to officially have earned my degree I have just two more classes to complete and the thesis. You do remember the thesis don't you? Yeah, its still waiting in the wings for my attention. Anyhoo... I had planned to complete everything this summer. I enrolled in the two classes, dusted off my research materials and was prepared to jump right in. Enter reality: its not a good idea to take math during the summer IF there are other classes involved. Nor is it a good idea to take math, other classes and write a thesis during the summer. I knew this before I signed up for summer classes, but I wanted to give it a go anyway. Who knows, I could have totally came out of it on top. I took 3 classes last summer and did every well!

Classes started and I realized that I should have listened to myself and others who warned me that not only taking math with other classes in the summer would be a bad idea, but also that taking it at Cal during the summer would be even worse of an idea. So, I'm sitting out the summer for some much needed down time and the opportunity to get some research done without the pressure of added academic responsibility. I'll sit in one more fall and then I'll be completely done, which will give me other benefits like time to find a job and a new apartment. I also wanted to be able to spend some quality time with Miss J actually enjoying the summer. We both deserve to have a break.

We got a chance to go to the water park last week with friends and we had a lot of fun. My legs got some much needed sun and our bodies got a natural dose of vitamin D.



Although sand is not my friend, we might find ourselves at the beach this weekend enjoying the nice weather.

What adventures are you and your family going on this summer?

What is the real point of facebook and how is facebook different from Twitter? They both seem to be based around status updates. Yes, there are a few other things sprinkled throughout facebook, and there may be a few things within Twitter (wouldn't know because I don't tweet), but all in all, what is the point? Please explain.

I've been solely a Myspacer for some time now, and have been asked begged repeatedly by friends to get a facebook. I initially wanted to remain facebook resistant, but with graduation and friends moving on to difference places and phases of life, I broke down and signed up just to be able to keep in touch. I like the idea of being able to share/link posts through facebook, and being able to network with friends, BUT, I am still kind of scratching my head, asking myself why did I go ahead and sign up. I haven't seen anything exciting and haven't been impressed.

So, yeah, all of you hardcore facebookers out there (or semi hardcore), please explain to me why this is such a good social networking tool and not just another place for me to be bombarded with the minute-to-minute happenings of my friends that I don't always care to know.

1. When I heard him say that he thinks I'm perfect I fell deeper in love with him.

2. Laughter + great friends really is the best medicine.

3. It's late, but who cares. I wanted to get my Friday Fill-In posted and darn it, here it is!

4. I am a mother first, always.

5. My eyes have seen some stuff in my short life.

6. I love strongly.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to hanging out with mommy friends, tomorrow my plans include figuring out a fireworks plan and Sunday, I want to talk myself into cleaning my house!

Its not perfect, but its close to what I envisioned. My friend will be coming to pick it up on Tuesday and I hope that she is pleased with both the presentation and the product as a whole. I'll let you know...

Just completed a new version of my Maze blanket for the nursery of a friend's newborn son. Remember the two blankets that I told you I sold before the end of the semester? Well, this is one of them. Blue and chocolate brown. The other will be a pastel green and yellow one for another little boy due in July. And I am still working on Miss J's all pink blanket that she has been hounding me to finish.

Hopefully, one day I will be moving these blankets off my couch for pictures and onto a more appropriate prop, such as a crib, or nice chair. For now, the couch will have to do because I'm not sure how long I will be holding on to this one, and because I plan on packaging it tomorrow and once its wrapped it'll stay that way until its owner unwraps it. I'll will fold it in a signature fold, wrap it in tulle, which is much better than celophane, then tie with an "Its a Boy" ribbon. It looks beautiful in my mind, we'll see how it looks once I start getting creative.
