I need a more presentable way of photographing these blankets. I might have to borrow my little twin nieces and put them to work. I am pretty sure the blankets would look much better hanging off of Thing 1 and Thing 2, rather than hanging off the back of my couch.

Two days of work and I now have a finished product. Not much different than those I made for the girls or the two blue and white blankets that I made before that. A 30-34 inch granny square with variations in color placement. I think that's what I like about the granny square. Its quick, and although you get the same shape, you are in complete control of the pattern. You can do all one color, or you can add as many colors as you'd like. You don't have to really take measurements with a square, you just keep adding rows until its as big as you want it, always yielding a perfect square. It makes a beautiful addition to any bed.

This blanket was among the first that I made for Miss J when I was still learning how to make a granny square.

I forgot how much work crocheting is on the hands. I thought I would have finished on Monday, but I had to keep stopping because my fingers kept cramping up. I hope this wont be a continuous issue if I decide to go ahead and stock up on blankets. I can't wait to get more materials. If I have to do one more blue and white blanket before I do any other color I might have to hurt myself. Luckily Miss J has asked for one in pink, and some other color that I can't remember. I am going to go find the brightest, hottest pink I can. I have to take a short break from the pastels.

So what do you think? Could you see yourself tucking your little one into a granny square at night? Also, if I go ahead with this whole Etsy store thing, what the heck am I gonna call it? I have been thinking for at least 6 months and nothing. Right now, pictures are stored in a folder called Schemes of Love. Any suggestions?

Good for you! I wish I had the patience, the creativity, and the time for something like this. My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was young and all I could make was one long rope. Very nice... your pics are fine!

I am with Christie - I didn't get past the rope but it was fun! I think that the cramping will go away once your fingers get used to it again. I think that the name of the etsy shop is a no-brainer - A Place of Comfort. Those blankets sure look comforting to me!

@Christie and Renee - I'm glad I'm not the only one who gave up when all they got was one 4 foot string. Lol.

But I definitely agree with Renee - A Place of Comfort...it fits on so many levels!

Lovely job on both blankets- I agree with A Comforting Place for your etsy name as well.

i think they're great! i especially like the purple and white one.

is that dora peeping from under there? i was just on renee's blog saying how that character must have some kind of spell on children. they all just love her.

ok back to business. i can't think of a name right now, but if something comes to mind i'll let you know.

yeah, i think it'd be great if you can recruit some lil models for at least one of the photos when/if you open your etsy shop. eye catching pics are big over there, so you could have one of the girls wrap the blanket around herself for the first photo (the one that'll show up first), and then maybe have a photo of it flat, then another one with it folded, etc. just some ideas. shoot you could have 'em model for all the photos.

*love that yolanda adams song*

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will probably end up going with A Place of Comfort, because you all happen to be right, these blankets are mighty comfy.

Thanks Ty for all the helpful advice of photographing. You are the photograph/modeling guru over there =). I am going to get one or both of the babies to help me with photographing my next creation. Hopefully they wont decide to eat my blankets!! Lol.

love the purple... you know thats my color

(I'm so late)

Agreed, A Place of Comfort is perfect-and a headstart on marketing (ever in business-mode)! I'd use baby dolls as models given the sensitivity and germaphobic tendencies of new parents! :)

I'm ready to see the launch!!

wow! those are really cute! :)

btw, i linked u up in my blog :)

See, this is why I love each and every one of you. These are some great ideas!! I will definitely be using them.

If I open the store I will call it A Place of Comfort. I'll photograph the girls with their own blankets and I'll use baby dolls to photograph the rest. I'll also make sure to use Ty's advice and photograph the blankets in different positions (folded, flat, possible over the rail of a crib).

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Ya'll are inspiring me to crochet through the pain, lol.
