Homework Ready

I bought Miss J. some Kindergarten workbooks that have all of these activities that are suppose to prepare her for the work that she will be doing in Kindergarten. I have found that the stuff in the books is stuff that she already knows how to do. If she could read, she could work in the books alone. I am so proud of her. I just can't say that enough. She is so in love with learning and I hope that she never loses that.

I don't know if there will be any weekly homework packets coming home, but just in case there aren't I will provide work for her to do. Now that she understands that Kindergarten actually involves "work", well, if you don't count making play dough, that is slightly different from the "work" that she was doing in Preschool, I also want her to understand that grade school also involves homework. She doesn't seem to have a problem with this. She comes to me and asks, "can we work in my activity book now?", and she wants to do like 10 pages at a time. I have to ask for a break. I love the way she never backs down from a challenge and welcomes new things with excitement. I try to encourage her strength and shape it so that it helps her throughout life. I am looking forward to seeing the results of her Kindergarten experience.

You sound like a great mom! Your hard work, and believe me it gets harder with every year, will be greatly rewarded. Hey it sounds like it's already being rewarded with her eagerness to study.

Good for you! Getting that work/study ethic developed early on goes a long way towards a successful future!

i love that aggressive, enthusiastic approach when it comes to educating ones self.

Girls are so great--they just dive right in.You are definitely doing the right thing by encouraging her curiosity--good mommy
