I can finally put my nearly 7 year old Toshiba to rest, or at least reassign her to educational game duty under the guidance of Miss J. I was like a kid in a candy store yesterday, waiting for a body in a blue shirt to come serve me. Man, I was so not prepared for the Apple store. It was my very first visit and boy are they hardcore. It was one of the busiest stores in the plaza. I've been a PC user forever, and I bought my iPod at Target so I'm really quite the Apple madness virgin. Everyone had a gadget in hand, testing it out, asking questions, making purchases. Even Miss J found herself playing games on an iPod touch as I was trying to decide which Macbook I should buy. They even had a special area where the kids could entertain themselves with computer games on a ridiculously huge monitor. After about an hour, I left with my brand new Macbook and storage case.
Now comes the fun part. Transferring all of my pictures and music over, installing my printer and camera software, which I am not even sure that I need to install because of the iPhoto stuff that I need to play around with, and going through PC withdrawal as I learn all the shortcuts and Mac commands. I've already had to bug Renee on how to copy and paste without right and left clicking, because, with a Macbook, there is only one long mouse button to click. I have no complaints so far, my conversion is going rather smoothly.
If you are a Mac user and you have any tips, tricks or anything else you'd like to share with me about mastering the Mac, feel free.
