Its very true that kids grow up super fast. I am still trying to come to terms with the idea of Miss J. not being a baby anymore. I mean, she will always be MY baby, but she is not wasting anytime becoming a big kid. She said her final goodbyes to preschool yesterday and was very eager to move on to her new school and make some new friends, as she had no problem explaining this to all of her (now) old teachers who were smothering her with goodbye hugs and kisses. "I'm going to kindergarten now because I'm 5 and I'm gonna make some new friends... bye".
She held my hand this morning during the 5 minute walk to her new school, skipping along with the excitement of knowing that I would be bringing her new lunch box back to the school today, of which I am very sure that she will be comparing to the lunch boxes of buddies Miss M. and Miss L., who will join her there. Also, she was very observant to the fact that we did not have to catch our regular bus that was now passing because the new school is so close to home. As we entered the classroom I was the one with the cloud of uncertainty towering over me. "Is this the main classroom? Is there a sign-in sheet for parents?", I asked. Once I was pointed in the right direction, Miss J. was all signed in and engaged in a meet and greet with her new morning teacher. The teacher was surprised at Miss J.'s self sufficiency. No crying, no running after me as I left. Instead, just a half-hug and a "bye mom".
