Let's Do It Again

As you all know, I walked it on out back in May. I was in full graduation ceremony mode, participating in like, FOUR of them. I had my department commencement, a scholarship dinner, a commencement for student parents, and I also participated in the commencement for Black graduates. I practically spent the month of May in and out of cap and gown. There were plenty of enjoyable moments from these ceremonies, like when Miss J walked across the stage with me during my department graduation, and when my Cal mommies and I got to celebrate our accomplishments together during our student parent ceremony. There were also some bittersweet moments, like the fact that my grandfather was in Mississippi for the month and missed out on the happiness. He really wanted to be there, and was saddened not to see himself in the family pictures.

Lucky for him, we all have the opportunity to do it all over again. Well, maybe not "all" of it, but I do have the opportunity to participate in the December commencement ceremony for December graduates. Since this is officially my very last semester as a Cal student, THAT'S ME! Sure, I wouldn't be walking with any of my friends this time, but at least this would give my grandfather the opportunity to be a part of the experience as he should be. He is currently on another trip to MS, but gave me the go ahead to get all signed up because he'll be back home by the date. So, looks like its on. Back in the cap and gown, and time to flip that tassel to the left, to the left.

Some people say they hate graduation ceremonies, but I'm with you. When I graduate I'm gonna live it up and participate in as many ceremonies as I possibly can. I'm happy for you, Congratulations!

Well alright! I hear you, get the most out of that cap and gown you deserve it! And how wonderful that your grandad can participate in the festivities this time around. Congratulations!

Okay, Ms. B:

I'm getting a little concerned about your attachment to the cap & gown thingy LOL!

I think that's good your grandfather will be in attendance for this one, I know how much that means to you. I didn't participate in that one b/c it felt so impersonal to me. Though I should have just to be able to "participate", because as you know, I didn't get to. Oh. My. God. I never got to celebrate my accomplishment! Sucks! Anyway...this one is for your grandpa and it's so worth it. I'm so happy he can make it.

XOXO

@Cary: Thanks! As long as the department/organization that is doing the ceremony is one that means a lot to you, then you will have a wonderful time. That's how it was for me. Those departments/organizations that I mentioned mean the world to me and I had the best time participating. I didn't do the school wide one that is for all major's because that one didn't mean anything to me, lol. Good luck with the rest of your studies Cary AND that wonderful experience you're having this semester out in Japan!!

@Renee: Oh yeah! Gotta wear that $35 investment out! We didn't have the option of renting this year so I'm getting my wear out of it since its only gonna be good for undergrad anyway.

@Traci: LOL. Not attached... really, I'm not, I swear, lol. I'm glad my granddaddy will be here too. It just wasn't the same without him at the others. With him there, the experience can really be complete. I know what you mean about being impersonal... That's why I didn't do the big grad in May.

Hey! This grad is just a matter of filling out an online form to get your name on the list and getting a $5 ticket. You still have a chance to celebrate your accomplishment if you don't mind being tardy for the party, hahaha. You have until November 12th to decide!! It was be sooo cool to be able to walk with you! Would mean a lot. And with all the caps and gowns that floated around in May, I'm sure I we could borrow you one from another mama. Think on it.

does this mean you are going to take new pictures too?

Good for you! Glad you are finishing and glad you get to do the thing again.
